DIONNE “QUINS”
VALUE OF ESTATE HALF A MILLION DOLLARS CHRISTMAS WITH PARENTS Received Nov. 18, 11.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 18. Dr. Dafoe, in an interview, said the Dionne quintuplets’ estate is at present valued at half a million dollars. Their expenses average more than 400 dollars a week, including the salaries of a teacher, two nurses, three guards, one housekeeper and two maids. Dr. Dafoe receives 200 dollars a month, and the parents 100. The doctor said that two or three years hence, when the quintuplets are ready for school, it will probably be necessary to build a private schoolhouse and import selected pupils from the village to provide social contact. They are now studying English in addition to French. Dr. Dafoe described Yvonne as a sophisticated lady of the world type, Emilie a gamin, Marie an affectionate clinging vine, and Cecile and Annette easy going.
The parents and six brothers and sisters will spend Christmas with the quintuplets, sharing their presents.
