, Mr George Baildon, a past-Mayor cf I Auckland, was a visitor to Wanganui j yesterday. i Mr. P. J. Gibbs, treasurer and asi sistant secretary to the Wellington Harbour Board, after 45 years’ service lin the board's employ, has retired. ! (Press Assn.). ’ Mr. W. H. Lewis, of Sydney, travelling representative for United Artists I (Australasia), Ltd., is on a short visit to Wanganui in the course of a three |months’ tour of the Dominion. He | leaves for Wellington this evening. | Mr. W. Stodart, of the Union Boat | Club, Wanganui, has been selected as j coxswain of the New Zealand eight [which will represent the Dominion at i the British Empire Games at Sydney in February. Dr. Elizabeth Gunn was entertained by members of the Teachers’ Institute at the D.I.C. yesterday afternoon, when the opportunity was taken to bid farewell to her. Afternoon tea was partaken of and Miss E. N. Sampson, who presided, gave some interesting reminiscences of the health camps and the tooth-brush campaign. Miss M. Tallin spoke on behalf of the women teachers, and Mr. W. P. Williams added a tribute on behalf of the head teachers of Wanganui. Dr. Gunn responded in happy vein.
