PAINTERS’ DISPUTE [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. The New Zealand Federated Paint and Varnish Employees’ dispute was heard in the Conciliation Council today. A 40-hour week is agreed to by the employers, but they seek a 7.30 a.m. start, with at least three-quarters of an hour for a meal. The men seek wages of £6 10s down to £5 5s for shaders in the paint department; £b 10s to £5 10s in the varnish department; employees engaged in lead corroding to be paid £7. The wages offered are £5 for leading hands, £4 15s for shaders, and £4 5s for other adult males.
