“HELL FOR LEATHER”
MOTOR RACING PLAYS. Woolf Barnato, the racing motorist supervised the details of the motorling Grand Prix which is an important I part of the story of "Hell for I Leather,” Barre Lyndon's play which 'was presented in London recently at |the Phoenix . The scenes are laid in I Italy and France, and there was a (team of specially built cars on the stage. Curiously enough, "Business With Royalty,” Anthony Armstrong’s new play, based on a German piece by Fred Hiller and Adolf Schultz, has motor racing as a background. In the linal scene at Palermo the thrills of a big race arc described from the terrace of a hotel. The leading character is Prince Peter, who is employed as a racing driver; the part was played by Jack Melford. Claire Carlton, who made her first appearance in London in "Three Men on a Horse,” appeared as the daughter of an American magnate, with Sebastian Smith and Grace Lane as the King and Queen of some Ruritanian State.
