Three outright wins were secured on Saturday, when the first series of matches in the Wanganui Cricket Association’s senior championship were concluded, the winning teams being United, Wanganui, and Technical Old Boys respectively. COLLEGIATE The Collegiate School continued its first innings against United, carrying the score to only 110 in reply to United’s first stroke of 213, a deficiency of 103, which resulted in a follow on. In the second stroke School hit up 126, leaving United 23 to get to secure an outright win. The required runs were secured at the expense of one wicket, giving United a ninewicket victory. MARIST Technical Old Boys made a better show at batting against the Marist bowling in the second strike, hitting up 218 for the loss of eight wickets before declaring. Marist had only made 84 in reply to a first innings total of 103. Thus the greens, when they began their second innings, needed 237 runs to draw and 238 to win.
