BROOM IN FLOWER

TAUPO’S GOLDEN MANTLE. TAUPO, Oct. 24. Owing to the dry spell in the past few weeks, the flowering of the broom has been retarded somewhat. However, light rain commenced yesterday, with the result that the broom has burst out in full bloom and is thicker this year than ever. This provides a beautiful sight, with a golden mantle covering the whole landscape, more especially when viewed from out on the lake. It is becoming quite the recognised thing to visit Taupo at this time of the year just to see the broom in flower.
