RAETIHI

RAETIHI CAMERA CIRCLE. The sixth monthly meeting of the Raetihi Camera Circle was held on Monday last and was well attended. The result of the "River Scene” competition was announced as follows:—Mr. L. Anderson 1 and 2, Mr. J. Bolderson 3. The club has also an annual competition in which points are awarded each month to the photos entered. The leaders this month are: Miss D. Davis and Mr. G. Hunt (equal) 4 points, H. Bolderson 3 points. After discussion it was decided that another grade be added to the competitions, in order to make these more equitable to junior members. There will now be an “A” and "B” grade. Any member in the "B” grade winning three competitions will then be transferred to the "A" grade. It was decided that in future the special competitions be held ac twomonthly intervals, this giving members more time in which to complete their entries The next competition in this series is for a native bush scene and will close on December 20. The display of photographs by the Camera Circle at the recent bulb show was on exhibition at the meeting, and an interesting talk on these was given by Mr. W. P. Mean, who explained points of interest in the compositions of these photos. Appreciation was also expressed by the meeting of the yeoman service done by Mr. Mead in connection with the exhibition at the bulb show; Mr. Mead was hard at work weeks beforehand in preparing the display and the complimentary references heard in all quarters, and the fact that through the display three new members joined, demonstrated how effective the exhibition was. Mr. Bruce Davis, now of Palmerston North, enclosed a cheque for a prize for his landscape competition. Mr. Davis is to be sent a letter of thanks.
