Sir.—In the schedule for 1937 Wanganui Show C’ass 1 reads: Steer calved since Ist uly, 1934, any beef breed or beef cross, most suitable for the chilled beef trade. In the interest of the New Zealand beef trade I have frequently pointed out that the best age to advertise the superiority of New Zealand grass-fed beef was IS months, which is not only a saving of two years but also reduces the risk of disease and gives the desired class of joints appreciated by consumers, but what is still more important it determines the breed which is the most economical, and to that snd I submit the enclosed clipping from the Australasian.—l am, etc., JOSEPH CARWARDINE. ! ;
