WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, Octooer 24, 3 p.m. General Situation.—Though an anti-cyclone of slight intensity crossed the South Island last night pressure is still low to the north and a fresh series of depressions is advancing across the Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Rather variable and, in many places, strong with south-east to north-east predominating at first, later northerlies becoming more general. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight to moderate north of East Cape and on the east coast of the South Island, but elsewhere rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman: Moderate to strong northerly winds predominating, with rather rough seas. Weather: Mainly cloudy to overcast and unsettled with rain at times in most districts, some heavy falls being probable in central provinces. Temperatures moderate. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 30 minutes. Rainfall, .65. Temperatures: Maximum, 60deg. Fahr,; minimum, 48deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 6.24 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 4.46 a.m. Phases of the Moon for October.—New Moon, October 4; First Quarter, October 13; Full Moon, October 20; Third Quarter, October 27.
