POSTMASTER FAREVN ELLED Thursday afternoon was chosen by the staff of the local post office to farewell a popular postmaster (Mr. A. Charles). Mr. J. Kemp, on behalf of his fel-low-workers on th? staff, presented Mr. Charles with a leather-bound copy of Rudyard Kipling’s “Kim.” Mr. Kemp wished Mr. Charles every success for the future and said that Mr. Charles’ kindnesses to the staff would not be forgotten. In a brief reply Mr. Charles thanked all the staff for their kind gift and mentioned that the efficient working of the office was mainly due to the loyalty and willingness of the staff. PERSONAL Miss F. Lewin spent Labour weekend in Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. A. Jamieson visited friends in Wellington during last week-end. Mr. J. Kemp visited his relatives in Hastings during the week-end. Mrs. J. Trevena is leaving to-mor-row for a holiday in Wellington. The friends of Mr. E. Knight arc gratified to hear that he is progressing satisfactorily and trust he will make a speedy recovery.
