TAXI-DRIVER ROBBED YOUTHS WITH REVOLVER INCIDENT AT PALMERSTON N. 1 Per Press Association. ] PALMERSTON N., Oct. 21. Two youths staged a daring hold-up and robbery at the revolver point tonight., the victim being a taxi-driver, Mr. Tom Seel. The incident, which bore evidence of having been well planned, was staged in the Esplanade, outside the motor camp entrance. The site was well selected as it was a hundred yards from the nearest habitation and enveloped in complete darkness with bush on one side and a belt of shel ter trees on the other. One youth was white and the other a Maori. They approached Mr. Sec. on the Chrich Street taxi stand an. asked to be taken to the motor camp When they arrived there the thru got out, the Maori asking the drive: if he had any change. Mr. Seel pullea. out a handful of silver and was the-:, ordered by the white youth, who ha<. a revolver levelled, to drop the monej on the ground. Mr. Seel aimed a kici. at the weapon, but missed. The youth threatened to drill him if he did that again, whereupon Mr. Seel dropped the money, about forty-five shillings. He was then ordered to get back in the car and drive off and keep going, which he did. Mr. Seel estimates that the white youth was 19 years and the Maori 17. Both were slovenly dressed as if they had been sleeping out.
