OPENING OF SEASON LAST NIGHT’S ACTIVITIES Evidence of the keen interest which is likely to be displayed in swimming during the 1937-38 season was provided last night at the Gonville Swimming Club’s first club night, when the attendance of swimmers and spectators far exceeded expectations. For such an early stage of the season the “fields” were large and the racing interesting throughout. Following are the results of the events decided:— Senior Men’s 33 l-syds.—J. Carroll 1, R. Hawkins 2, E. Manssen 3. Boys’ 33 l-3yds.—R. Williamson and R. Green dead-heat 1, R. Lovett 2. Girls’ 33 l-3yds.—P. Gardner 1, A. Parker 2, N. Davis 3. Across the Baths.—C. Reid 1, D. Wilsher 2, I. Palamountain 3. Ladies’ Dive.—N. Davis 1, P. Gardner 2, A. Parker 3. Boys’ Dive.—l. Palamountain 1, D. Williamson 2, D. Wilsher 3.
