FISHING REGULATIONS
DRIFT LINE RESTRICTIONS [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Oct. 21. A regulation of interest to the fishing industry is contained in a notice under the Salt Water Fisheries Regulations issued with the Gazette. The order states that no person shall, within a distance of half a mile from low watermark of the mainland or any island lying off the coast oi New Zealand, fish by “windy buoy’ or drift line method, or use a longline attached to anchor, grapnel or sinker unless these are sufficient to prevent the line from drifting or dragging over the sea bottom.
Another order extends the close season for seals for a further three rears, from November 30.
