MINIMUM STIPENDS [ Per Press Association. 1 DUNEDIN, Oct. 20. A bill to increase minimum stipends in parishes was read a second time and put through the committee stages by the Anglican Synod last evening. In Otago and Southland the minimum is £3OO as compared with £350 elsewhere. The bill raises the level to £320 where a vicarage is provided, and £3BO otherwise. Dean Cruickshank said he felt compelled to suggest to the laity never to be deluded into thinking a clergyman received his salary. What provision was made for poor relief?
