CAR’S WILD CAREER

CRASH INTO BUILDING VEHICLE THEN ABANDONED WHAKATANE, Oct. 19. A wrecked blacksmith’s shop and a badly-damaged motor-car abandoned near by showed that an extraordinary accident occurred at Poroporo, near Whakatane, some time on Saturday night. The motor-car appears to have got out of control and then dashed into the front of Mr. Walker’s smithy, smashing through the wall and careering half-way across the building. Evidently it was backed clear and driven some little distance down the road. The owner of the car has not yet been traced. There was nothing to show that anyone was injured in the accident, and no cases have been reported or admitted to hospital.
