GAMING HOUSE RAID
ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. 1 Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Oct. 18. Seven men, including a pe ty officer and a Royal Marine, were to-day lined £2 each, and seven young women £1 each after pleading guilty to being found on gaming house premises when raided by the police on Friday night. John Ellis, aged 30, motor driver charged -with conducting the premises, was further remanded to November 1. Robert Var.ey, aged 28, labourer; Patrick Francis Brannan, aged 25, seaman; and Michael Alban Atkinson, aged 26, steward, charged with assisting in the management, were remanded to October 26.
