The Misses M. and J. Wilson, of Bulls, were visitors to Auckland during the week-end. Mr Salmon, sent., of Sydney, is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. H. Salmon, St. ; John’s Hill. Mr and Mrs R. Bartley, and Mr and | Mrs T. R. Bartley, of Trentham, have i been visiting Wanganui.
Mrs Tidy, of Marton, is a visitor to Rotorua.
Mrs A. M. Adams and Misses L., M., and J. Adams, of Lower Hutt, were in Wanganui during the week-end.
Miss Bernice Allen, of Central Avenue, has left Wanganui to take up another position in Wellington.
Mr and Mrs P. A. O’Neill and Miss Joyce O'Neill, Ingestre Street, will leave for Wellington on Wednesday for the races.
Mrs W. Howells, Wanganui, who has been staying in Auckland, as the guest of Rev. and Mrs Scriven, Epsom, returned home yesterday.
Mr and Mrs George Collins, Man gamahu, leave to-day to spend a holiday at Taupo.
Mr and Mrs Morgan Duncan, of Wellington, and formerly of Wanganui, are leaving shortly for Sydney Mr Duncan having been transferred to that city.
Miss Jean Evans, of Wellington, spent the week-end in Wanganui with her parents, Mr and Mrs P. Evans, Nelson Street.
Mr and Mrs P. Doull, who have been spending a holiday in Wanganui, return to-day to their seaside home at Levin Beach.
A sixteen-year-old London hairdresser, Miss Dora Howey, recently undertook a novel holiday when she signed on as stewardess in her father’s grain ship. Miss Howey was the only woman in the ship, which went from London to South Africa.
A demand that childless wives, or women with only one child be forbidden to employ maids was made recently by the Voelkischer Beobatchter, the principal Nazi newspaper. On the other hand, the newspaper suggests that mothers with large families be given a subsidy to enable them to employ a maid.
