GOLF CLOSING Perfect weather conditions prevailed on Saturday afternoon, when the Waverley Golf Club held its official closing. Visitors were present from Patea and Manutahi and a very pleasant afternoon’s sport was enjoyed. At the conclusion of play, the president, Mr E. C. Dallison, thanked the visitors for their support and hopea they had had an enjoyable day. He also wished the club every success for the future. The winners of the mixed Canadian foursomes were Miss D. Simson and S. Edwards. Several ladies tied for the approach and putt competition, but Miss N. Lupton proved the winner and Mr Muir was the winner of the men's competition. The winners of the putting competition were Mrs K. Handley (ladies’) and G. Aiken (men’s). PERSONAL Mrs S. Barrow, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs W. Swainson, Manakau, returned on Friday. Miss B. Elmslie, who has been visiting Wanganui and Palmerston North, has returned.
