North Arlington (New Jersey! following the arrest of Paul Dwyer, aged 18, who was charged with murder. Patrolmen found Dwyer sleeping in a car parked on tne roadside early in the morning. Search disclosed the rug-covered body of a woman in the back seat, and the body of a man locked in the rumble trunk. They are Dr. and Mrs James Littlefield, both aged 64, who were living in South Paris, Maine. Dwyer, in an alleged confession, said he believed himself ill and summoned Dr. Littlefield to his home last Wednesday. Dr. Littlefield told him he was not ill, but made a statement concerning a girl with wnom Dwyei was friendly. Dwyer then battered and strangled the doctor to death and forced the body into a trunk in Dr. Littlefield’s car. He drove to the home of his victim and persuaded MrLittlefield that her husband had unexpectedly gone to Boston and wished her to follow. Dwyer then drove for 30 hours, covering 300 miles in a pretended search for her husband. Yesterday morning he strangled her ano made for New Jersey. Finally he liept owing to exhaustion. Dwyer is alleged to have repeaten!y told his questioners: “They can't hang or electrocute me, because there is no death penalty in Maine.'*
