HEAVY LOSS IN HUTT V \LLEY 1 Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Oct. 16. Wellington and the Hutt Valley experienced a sharp frost last night, and at Taita, where it was heavier than in Wellington, market gardeners suffered a severe loss as a result of it. One market gardener who had put out 18,000 tomato plants yesterday lost the lot, and another grower suffered a similar loss. Potatoes and marrows were other crops which were damaged. One market gardener estimated the loss in the Taita district alone at several thousand pounds. In Wellington 3 degrees were recorded. Christchurch had 6.5 degrees and Alexandra 10 degrees.
