“Doctrine of Atonement” was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday. The golden test was I Corin. 1:9, “God is faithful, by whom ye .were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon were the following from the Bible, “For if, when we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” (Romans 5:10.) Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy: “The efficiency of Jesus’ spiritual offering is infinitely greater than can be expressed by our sense of human blood. The material blood of Jesus was no more efficacious to cleanse from sin when it was shed upon ‘the accursed tree,’ than when it was flowing in His vein;: as He went daily about His Father’s business. His true flesh and blood wore His life; and they truly eat His flesh and drinK His blood, who partake of that divine fife.” (p. 25.)
