Patterson, one of the three ratings drowned off Karaka Bay, near Tamaki, during the Diomede Cup race on September 30, was held at Waikumete cemetery. Patterson’s body was found on the western shore of Brown’s Island on Wednesday morning. Prior to the graveside ceremony a service was conducted by the port chaplain, Rev. H. K.
