A lengthy cortege and representative attendance at the graveside at Aramoho yesterday testified to the high esteem in which the late Mr. C. W. Poynter was held by the community. Beautiful floral emblems covered the casket, and in simple manner one who was beloved by all about him was laid to rest. The Rev. W. M. Smallfield conducted the service aLthe graveside. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs. W. J. Rogers (Mayor of Wanganui), Hope Gibbons, A. G. Bignell, G. S. Gordon, George Murch (town clerk) and A. Barnes. An oration to a departed member of the Druids’ Lodge was given by Councillor G. Bennett and the gathering sang “Abide With Me." All lhe bodies with which Mr. Poynter had been connected were represented, the City Council, Hospital Board, Power Board, Booksellers’ Association, Rotary Club. Wanganui Orphanage, Wanganui Bowling Club and Union Boat Club.
