MUCH BRIGHTER
BRITISH STOCK MARKETS CHANGE OF SENTIMENT LONDON, Oct. 13. The markets are distinctly brighter and prices higher in almost all sections. Buyers are more ready to purchase, and mines and home industrials made quite a cheerful showing. The sudden change of sentiment is attributed partly to dissipation oi fears regarding the Spanish situation and partly to the authoritative assurances given o the effect that no large or even small financial institution has had to canvass for assistance. BIG SELLING IN NEW YORK PRICES DROP SHARPLY EVIDENCE OF RECOVERY LATER. Recer ed Oct. J 4 6.34 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 13. The heaviest selling wave of the year swept the stock market and carried prices down sharply, but they recovered at the closing hours with some issues, particularly the steel group, showing net gains for the day. A downward sweep of the market during the past few months has resulted in an average loss of 23 points and a total loss in sales prices in excess of twenty billion dollars.
