QUEEN MARY

AN EYE FOR DETAIL BRONZE DEALER'S ERRORS LONDON, Oct. 1. Queen Mary to-day was able to correct mistakes made in connection with bronzes of royal personages. In touring an antique dealers' fair with the Princess Royal, Her Majesty noticed two bronzes labelled “William Duke of Clarence” and “Princess Adelaide.” She took one glance and suggested that the labels should be “George IV’.” and “Princess Charlotte.” Asked if she was sure, Queen Mary replied: “Certainly. William never had the Order of the GoldOn Fleece, which he is wearing. King George IV. did. The uniforms are also different.’’ She also pointed out that the other bronze showed a lace fillet from the hair, which came in in George IV.'s time. The labels were altered. Quen Mary bought a bronze box recording details of all the Kings and Queens of England from 1066. It was made on the occasion of King George IV.'s visit to Scotland.
