Munganui Kii.ir.g.—T. t o i-ipipl Road has been repaired over i radically the whole secdun and is new in reasonably good order, 'ihc i'tmckuha Road has also been repaired leading to Scarrow's. Repairs to the metal are being done on the Ofiura Road from Short’s Hill to the Oruatuha Bridge over which section it is proposed to resurface all the rough sections, and generally bring the road up to standard. The protective fence has been erected at the foot of Short’s Hill, and the boarding painted. The corner a: the junction of the Motete Road has been reduced and the formation metalled. Repairs have been done to the Makakahi Road, Hakautangi Track, and Harris’ deviation, and the usual maintenance work done.

Ohakune Riding.—The tree-planting on the Ohakune Road has been continued from the section planted last season. The section between the Mangawhero Bridge and the bitumen road is now planted on both sides for the major distance. The estimated cost of the repairs to the Hangataua Streets, culverts and other details has been prepared and sent forward. The power grader has been used periodically and the usual maintenance work done on the several roads. Parapara Riding.—Repairs are being done to the metalled section of th? Matahiwi Road, and the formation widened where trouble has been experienced through scour during heavy rains. I have made an inspection.of t ic Matahiwi Track, which is in a bad state of repair over many sections; a small bridge and several culverts are required, and a good deal of formation work required to bring the track up to an easy negotiable condition. The wet weather and other circumstances have prevented the proposed wor.. on the Ohotu Road being put in hand; the road will be attended to imraeJirlely the formation dries.

Ruatiti Riding.—Owing to the approaches to the bridge at the top end of the Makino Road being difficult of access to large lorries it will be necessary to widen out same. Casual labour has been engaged in part-time work on the Waipapa and Mangatiti Roads to keep these roads open for the mail service. The amount of work possible over so many miles of road with the limited labour is totally inadequate to prevent the deterioration; financial assistance, therefore, is a matter of urgency if these roads are to be prevented from going back, which will be inevitable under the present conditions of maintenance. Some of the bridges also require repairs to carry the heavy traffic. WAIMARINO GOLF CLUB VISIT TO TAUMARUNUI On Sunday over 40 members of the Waimarino Golf Club journeyed to Taumarunui and were favoured by glorious weather. The home players were, on the aggregate, too good for the Waimarino players and the result was well in their favour. The Taumarunui links were in good order ..nd those who were visiting them for the first time were loud in their praises. V isit to Taihape Next week-end Waimarino players will be visiting the Taihape links and all players who can make the trip are requested to hand their names into the secretary as early as possible.
