HUNTER VILLE
YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB r On Tuesday night the Hunterville Young Farmers’ Club held their usual monthly meeting. The speaker fo« the evening was Mr C. Chisholm, who chose for his subject, “Dairying and Dairy Farm Management.” Mr Chisholm said he would sooner milk cows than address a meeting and, after giving a brief but clear and pointed outline of his subject, invited discussion, which was very free and interesting, and had it not been for the supper being ready, would have probably been non-stop. The speaker drew attention to the judging competition at the Royai Show at Palmerston North for teams from young farmers’ clubs and he earnestly hoped Hunterville would "do its stuff. ‘ As there would be no time after the next meeting to finalise team arrangements, it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of Mr C. J. Craig and those members, particularly of the dairying line, desirous of availing themselves of this great educational opportunity are asked to communicats immediately with their fellow club men. At the conclusion of supper, the following were appointed as hosts for the next meeting: Messrs Tom Green, Colin Signal, Ivan Signal, Alex Cameron, John Bowen, and J. A. Coleman. The November meeting will consist of something of mutual interest to sheep and dairymen and it is hoped to be able to get some lantern slides put across.
The Hunterville Young Farmers’ Club is proving very popular with the young men of the district and each night further members are enrolled. It is open to youths between the ages of 14 and 25 years, but no birth certificate is asked of those interested. Meetings are held on the first Tuesdays in the month and the annual subscription is 2s 6cl.
