“LOVE ON THE RUN” “Love on the Run,” which concludes its Wanganui season at the Majestic Theatre to-day, celebrates the reunion of that most delightful of love teams —Joan Crawford and Clark Gablein their first picture together since “Forsaking All Others.” “Love on the Run” deals with an American heiress in Europe on a pleasure trip, whose millions are cordially desired in exchange for a shoddy title. The supporting cast includes Franchot Tone. “The 13th Chair” The screen version of a famous play, “The 13th Chair," which met with great success in New York and London, will be shown for the first time at the Majestic Theatre to-morrow. A cast of established screen favourites takes the leading roles in this film. Among these is Dame May Whitty, who has a great reputation on the British stage, and who appeared in the film “Night Must Fall.” Other important roles are taken with distinction by Madge Evans, Lewis Stone, Elissa Landi, Thomas Beck and Ralph Forbes. All these players are cast in roles that allow them full play for their talents, and the result is an entertainment that is satisfying to a degree. The smooth way in which the story unfolds and the deft characterisations of these famous actors make a high-class production. To say much of the story itself would rob the picture of some of its appeal, dependent as it is upon the surprise element. Not only is the mystery of a baffling nature, but the story is credible, and provides comic relief to its serious moments ih a fashion rarely seen in the theatre. A second attraction on the programme is a Western film entitled “Dodge City Trail.”
