EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT CLUB MEETING Mr. J. E. Palmer presided over a good attendance of members at the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club meeting on Thursday evening. It was decided to donate £5 5s to the King George V National Memorial Fund. The programme for the point-to-point, to be held on Saturday, July 17, on Mr. J. Lupton’s property, was arranged subject to the approval of the Wanganui District Committee. The programme drawn up is as follows: (1) Pony Jumping Competition, not over 14 hands, for boys and girls who have not followed the local hounds on at least three occasions during the past season. Entry fee nil. (2) Ladies’ Hunting' Competition over such jumps as the committee shall decide, each lady only allowed to ride one horse. Entry fee 7s 6d. (3) Lightweight Steeplechase (for qualified hunters). Distance about 21 miles. Minimum weight 11 stone. Entry fee 7s 6d. (4) Tally Ho Steeplechase (for qualified hunters). Distance about 2i miles. Minimum weight 12 stone 71b. Entry fee 7s 6d. WAVERLEY TOWN BOARD The monthly meeting of the Waverley Town Board was held in the board room on Thursday evening. Mr. Heginbotham presided and also present were Messrs. J. J. Johnston, S. Bromiley, F. Jeffery, A. Wicks and J. E. Palmer. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £ll4 16s 9d; balance, credit, £367 14s Id; interest, £lO7 14s lid; separate, £96 16s 3d. It was resolved that the actions of the chairman in instructing the clerk to appoint C. Barnett ranger and pound-keeper be confirmed. The wage is 10s per week. Tt was decided that all rates outstanding for 1936-37 be sued for without further notice and that all those with leakey taps be given notice to repair same. DOMAIN BOARD The monthly meeting of the Waverley Domain Board was held in the board room on Thursday evening, when Mr. W. Heginbotham presided. Also present were Messrs. J. J. Johnston. J. E. Palmer, F. Jeffery, S. Bromiley, W. Wicks. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £l2 0s 6d, balance, credit, £248 4s sd. It was resolved that the football club be asked to take more care of the training shed and see that both gates are open for the general public. ST. STEPHEN’S WOMEN’S SOCIAL CLUB The fortnightly meeting of the St. Stephen’s Women’s Social Club was held on Friday afternoon, when there was a good attendance. Mrs P. A. Stanley presided, hostesses being Mesdames J. Brown, Hunt, Hickford and Miss Bremer. During the afternoon competitions were won by Mrs Harden and Mrs A. G. Wallace, and Mrs Ell won the raffle. Everybody was requested to bring a gift for the birthday party to be held at the first meeting in July. Mrs Harden was elected vice-president, and Mrs Hunt was put in charge of the community chest. A most enjoyable afternoon tea brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
