WANGANUI NOMINATIONS

“Cross-bar” learns on good authority that the Wanganui Rugby Union intends nominating the following players for the All Black trials:— D. G. Barton (Wanganui and Old Boys), centre or wing. Brian Thomas (Waverley), first five-eighth. A. Davidson (Technical Old Boys), forward. N. James (Bulls), forward. There is a possibility that TC’hase (Taihape), and “Wally” Thompson (Taihape) will also be nominated, if not for the trials, then for the North Island team. It is not known whether Maori players are to be considered in the trials and that would affect Chase’s nomination. The dire shortage of first five-eighths in the Dominion lifts Brian Thomas’ chances up very high. All Wanganui hopes that he will make good. Barton looks certain for a trial in the three-quarter line, even on the wing.
