SALES OF GOLD LOWER SPEECH HAS GOOD EFFECT. LONDON, June 9. The gold sales on the bullion market was the lowest since the unhoarding began. Sir John Simon's statement has apparently reassured foreign operators, and it is generally agreed that the immediate uncertainties of gold have been dispelled. The Financial Secretary to the Treasury stated in the House of Commons: “The present statutory limit of the exchange equalisation account is sufficient to finance the present currency transactions.”
