DARING RESCUES

"SEA DEVILS” AT PLAZA. VICTOR McLAGLEN STARRED. Courageous Coast Guard crews rescue from the crater of death passengers from a burning ship, and later, passengers and crew from a hurricane battered vessel, at the Plaza Theatre to-morrow, in RKO Radio’s romantic drama, “Sea Devils,” starring Victor McLaglen, Preston Foster and Ida Lupino, with Donald Woods heading the supporting cast.

McLaglen appears in the role of a hard-boiled bo-sun’s mate in the Coast Guard, who becomes greatly concerned when his daughter, Ida Lupino, shows interest in Preston Foster, a happy-go-lucky sailor who prides hinV self on being quite a ladies’ man. Bo’sun McLaglen decides his daughter should marry an ambitious young Coast Guardsman, Donald Woods, and he is none too subtle in letting Foster know that he would rather die than have him as a son-in-law. The enmity between these two leads to some wild and fancy melees, lending considerable colour to the exciting photoplay. McLaglen and Foster played' together Tn RKO’s prize-winning play of 1935, “The Informer,” which resulted in McLaglen gaining the Academy Award for the best male screen performance of 1935. Seen in supporting roles are Gordon Jones, Helen Flint, Pierre Watkin, Murray Alper and Billy Gilbert.
