SKATING HEROINE
“GIRL IN A MILLION.” A brilliant new star, an entirely original theme, and an exceptionally strong supporting cast all help to make “Girl in a Million,” which is to commence next Friday at the Plaza Theatre, the most outstanding comedy romance of the year. Sonja Henje, world champion skater, demonstrates her ability on the ice in a number of sensational exhibitions, and proves herself to be a charming and accomplished actress. Combining graceful figure skating routines and ice ballets, catchy musical numbers, and plenty of humour, the film is indeed an outstanding one. The story is that of a beautiful Swiss girl whose father, an innkeeper and once famous skater, is training her in the hope that she will win the Olympic championship. Complications arise when a troupe of American musical artists and a reporter visit th« inn, but all ends happily. “Maria Waleska” will be Greta Garbo's next picture, in which she will co-star with Charles Boyer. Nudity on London Stage. “The Paris Follies have nothing on the nude sights one sees at the Windmill Theatre,” says a New Zealander at present visiting London. The windmill is a theatre devoted to vaudeville and elaborate revue.
