Barnes, in an address at the Diocesan Conference, said that if persons who had remarried after divorce sought God's help in the Holy Communion he could not bring himself to refuse them. The Church should be willing to give church people, whose first marriage was wrecked, all the help possible to live soberly and faithfully in their new union, in which the children, if any, could be brought up in the Christian spirit virtuously.
