WANGANUI ACTIVITIES KING’S BIRTHDAY MATCH COOKS GARDENS TO-DAY With thc visit of the touring English amateur soccer team set down for Wednesday of next week, June 16, interest in soccer activities in Wanganui is growing apace, and the prospects of a largo crowd at Cook’s Gardens on the occasion of thc visit appear bright. The team to play the Englishmen is a combination of Wanganui and Taranaki representatives, and they will be seen in action to-day at Cook's Gardens against the Wellington B representatives. This match is to start at 2.45 p.m. Much of the fine play of the Englishmen will be appreciated by those who have at least, a passing acquaintance with the code. The curtain-raiser, which should appeal to patrons, will be the return match between the Wanganui and Taranaki juniors.
