STEEPLECHASE DAY

WANGANUI WINTER MEETING BRISTOL HACK CUP FIELD CONCLUDING DAY’S PROSPECTS Feature events for to-day, the concluding day of the Wanganui Jockey Club’s winter meeting, include the oldestablished Wanganui Steeplechase and the newly-instituted Bristol Hack Cup. Judging by the fields engaged, the prospects are that this holiday fixture will be such a .success as to coiupensate the club for the disappointment suffered on Saturday through the adverse weather conditions. The Connolly Handicap is another event which will claim attention through its association with the past history of the club, and the June Hurdles should provide an interesting race. The totalisator will be operated on the single-pool system ami the dividend indicator will again be used. The musical programme for the day will be provide! by the 'Wanganui Garrison Band, champions of New Zealand. The weather conditions for the past three days, though rather colder than could have been desired, have shown a decided improvement ami only require to continue tine to ensure a “bumper'’ attendance. A summary of candidates’ form, together with prospcctnc favourites, may be read with interest.
