PERSONAL Visitors to Wanganui for the races >n Saturday were Mrs F. Handley, Mrs W. E. Broderick and Miss Broderick, Miss M. Brewer, Mrs D. Handley, Miss E. Parsons, Miss Jean Parsons, Mrs Wilson, Mrs J. Laird, Mrs J. Brown, Miss M. Patterson, Mrs Billinghurst, Mrs Johnson, Miss M. Johnson, Miss M. Fahey, Mrs J. Gray Miss P. Gray. Mr R. Parker spent the week-end in Wanganui with his parents. Two of the local footballers, Denis Dallison and Bryan Thomas, motored to Taihape on Saturday to play in the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union’s representative team against the Taihape representatives in a match for the Pownall Trophy. Mr and Mrs Bromiley, senr., will leave during the week for Auckland, ahere they will connect with the Van Rees for Java and Singapore. They expect to be absent from New Zealand for about two months. Mr and Mrs Mulholland left on Monday evening for Rotorua. [ Mrs H. P. Metcalfe left to-day ’ (Tuesday) to. spend a holidav with Mrs Hawthorne, Stokes Valley, Wellington. Mr and Mrs Tilley and two children, Stratford, were the guests of Mrs Mathieson at the week-end. LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN A meeting of the Waverley branch >f the Legion of Frontiersmen was held on Saturday evening in the club rooms, when twenty members were present under the O.C. Captain 3oyer. A special report on the conference Rrhich was held in Christchurch, was dealt with, after which members ipent a evry pleasant evening.
