SPRINGBOKS’ TOUR
MATCH AT ADELAIDE ANNIHILATION OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA Received June 6, 7.5 n.m. ADELAIDE, June 8. The Springboks simply had anotheF practice match on Saturday when they overwhelmed South Australia by 55 to 3. The manager, Mr. Percy Day, said the performance of the visitors was entirely satisfactory in view of the limited opportunity to train. Many passes were fumbled and for a period the backs showed definite uncertainty, but they expect improvement when training begins in earnest. The remainder of the twenty-nin« players were given a try-out on Saturday, the first batch having played in Western Australia. The speed and agility of the burly forwards was remarkable. The particular star was Brand, who converted eight trios and kicked a penalty goal. There were brilliant movements which will provide education to the local players. Harris, Bester and Williams were a strong combination and Badrow another classy player. Brand was amazing in his lett-foot punts and drop-kicks. The forward play and cross-kicking of the Springbok pack was also a revelation to South Australia.
Tries were scored for the Springboks by Bester <3l, Williams, Lawton, Du Poll and Barrow <2 each I, Bastard and De Villiers (one each!. Wills kicked a penalty goal for South Australia.
