BULLS

FAREWANUI WOMEN’S INSTITUTE Mrs H. F. Russell presided over a very fair attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Parewanui Women’s Institute, held at “Apa House” on Wednesday, June 2. Mrs Russell extended a hearty welcome to members and visitors. Business was dealt with, and the following donations were approved: £1 to the Northern-Wellington Federation, and 16s 3d to the King George V. Memorial Fund. An appeal for support from the committee of the Bulls Ladies’ Rest and Plunket Rooms’ movement received a ready response, the sum of £1 16s, being collected for the fund, with further promises of cakes, etc., for the to be held in Bulls on June 9. There being no demonstration, a competition, “a musical parcel,” helped to pass the time away pleasantly, the winner being Mrs H. Bowen. The competition for the best bar of soap resulted: Mrs A. Tattle 1, Mrs H. Bowen 2, Mrs A. Young 3. The “roll call,” a winter pudding, brought some very nice recipes, after which each member was supplied with a piece of material to work various fancy stitches, which proved easy until tried. A dainty afternoon tea added to the pleasure of the afternoon. REST AND PLUNKET ROOMS On Wednesday next a dance will be held in Bulls Town Hall in aid of the above fund. The music v/ill be supplied by the "Midnight Revellers” orchestra, and every effort is being made to make the dance an enjoyable one.
