CHAIRMAN REJECTED BY HOME COUNCIL [ Per Press Association. 1 TIMARU, June 4. At the annual meeting of the Mackenzie County Council to-day Mr- C. J. Talbot, chairman of the New Zealand Counties’ Association and a member of the Highways Board, lost the chairmanship of the council. Mr. W. R. Davison also was nominated and the voting was even. The names were drawn from a hat, Mr. Davison being successful. Mr. Talbot attributed his defeat to the support he gave the county amalgamation proposals. Mr. Talbot was re-elected the council’s delegate on the Counties’ Association.
