DEATH OF CYCLIST
MOTOR-TRUCK DRIVER CHARGED [ Per Pres, Association. | CHRISTCHURCH, June 3. Charged with driving negligently, thereby causing the death of a cyclist in the Main North Road near Amberley, Frank Rowland Coe, farmer, of Broomfield, pleaded not guilty at the Amberley Courthouse to-day and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Coe was the driver of a motor-truck which overtook and knocked down Christian Alfred Hadler, farm labourer, aged 57, of Greney’s Road, shortly before 6 p.m. on May 8. Both Hadler and Coe were returning from the Amberley Racing Club’s meeting, Coe with three passengers in the cab of his truck. MAN ELECTROCUTED TOUCHED DAMAGED LIVE WIRE. f Per Press Association. J NEW PLYMOUTH, June 3. Earl Doughty, aged 22, was electrocuted while working on a farm near Eltham to-day. With others he was felling trees. A branch of a tree, in falling, caught in the power lines and dragged a wire down. Doughty took hold of the wire to free it and was killed instantly. Doughty’s mother Jives in Christchurch.
