“TURNED DOWN”

BOARD’S DILEMMA SEARCH FOR LOAN MONEY MASTERTON, March 18. I With the major portion of its capi* tal building works in progress the Wairarapa Hospital Board is now faced with the difficulty of raising the necessary loan moneys. "Everyone we have approached has turned us | down,” observed the managing-secre-tary, Mr. Norman Lee, at yesterday’s meeting of the board. The amount required is £14,550. Mr. J. F. Thompson: If we don’t get the money soon we will be in trouble.

The chairman. Mr. H. H. Mawlcy. suggested that he and the managingsecretary should place the position before the Prime Minister. If Mr. Savage had any suggestions, it might be possible to save about £BO in broken’ fees. Mr. Mawley recalled a statement to the effect that the Government would see that local bodies were ►provided with the money necessary for building programmes.

Mr. W. I. Armstrong: I thought you were going to say the Government would make the money. Mr. J. F. Thompson: That is the trouble. It would mean the printing press. I do not think the Government will be able to find the necessary money. It was decided that Messrs. Mawley and Lee interview the Prime Minister.
