WATERSIDER’S DEATH
VERDICT AT INQUEST. FALL OF HEAVY BEAM. [ Per Pres* Association. J WELLINGTON, March 10. An open verdict was returned by the coroner at the adjourned inquest into the death of Gordon Hector Manning, a waterside worker. The finding was that the deceased died in the Wellington Hospital on March 3 from injuries received the same day when stowing cargo on the vessel Durham, a heavy beam falling on him from the level of a hatch. MAN FOUND UNCONSCIOUS DIES LATER IN HOSPITAL. [ Per Pres* As«ociation. ] NAPIER, March 10. Thomas Simpkins, aged 58, a resident of Richmond Block, was found unconscious in a hut on Tuesday evening, and died in hospital the following morning. It is not known how long he lay in the hut before he was found by a friend.
