There was a heavy fall of snow over the greater part of England yesterday. and in the higher parts of the south-eastern counties it lay at a depth of about five inches. Farms and villages in many districts in the west of England and the peak district were isolated for the second time in the course of a week. Road conditions throughout the country were difficult yesterday, but in the south a rapid thaw set in during the day. In many places it was found necessary to bring .oad ploughs into action. _
