AEROPLANE WRECKED
MISHAP IN CANTERBURY F Per Pi-ess Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 12. A Spartan aeroplane, owned by New Zealand Airways, was wrecked on a farm at Stavely this afternoon. The pilot, John Kilian, was uninjured. Colin L. Austin, aged 26, owner of the farm, who was a passenger in the aeroplane, suffered a scalp wound. The machine, totally wrecked, was taken in a lorry to Springburn and from there it will be sent by rail to .Timaru.
The pilot took off twice without a passenger to test the field. A gusty north-west wind was blowing.
