NEW LAND FOUND
CLAIMED FOR NORWAY ANTARCTIC DISCOVERY RANGE OF MOUNTAINS (By Telegraph—Press Assoc’ation—Copyright) OSLO, Feb. 8. Lars Christensen, a Norwegian who at present is exploring in the Antarctic, sent a wireless message from the whaler Thorshaven announcing that the aviator Viggo Wideroee has discoveerd a range of mountains whose highest peak is about 4500 ft. between the 35th and 40th degrees longitude. Wideroee dropped a Norwegian flag from the aeroplane when he was 38 degrees east, 69.30 degrees south, thereby assuming possession of the land on behalf of Norway. He also mapped the newly-discovered land.
