WEATHER FORECAST
Meterological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, February 9, 4 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone covered New Zealand this morning, the centre being to the north, but it is now passing away eastwards and a moderate depression is moving on to the South Island. Forecast.—Winds: North to north-west, light to moderate generally but freshening in the Cook Strait area. A temporary change to south-westerlies to-night in the southern half of the South Island. Seas (N.Z. waters): Slight to moderate but rising shortly in the Cook Strait area and at times in the far south. Eastern Tasman Sea: Li»ht to fresh northerly winds but a change to south-westerlies advancing from the south-west; seas moderate to rather rough. Weather’ Cloudy to overcast in the western and far southern districts of the South Island, with scattered rain developing. Elsewhere fair to fine, but rain extending slowly northward during Wednesday. Ternperalures warm. Time of sunset to-day: 7.32 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow. 5.39 a.m; , x .. . o.
