JAZZ COMES UPPERMOST
THE TENDENCY IN AUSTRALIA BAND ADJUDICATOR'S OPINION [ Per Press Association. I WELLINGTON, Feb. 8. From a concert point of view the popularity of the brass band in Australia was passing and jazz has taken its place. This is the opinion of Mr. E. P. Kerry, conductor of the Randwick Municipal Band, who arrived by the Awatea to adjudicate at the New Zealand brass band championships at Nelson.
Mr. Kerry said that the Woolston Band was well within the standard of Australian bands. Mr. Kerry visited New Zealand in 1909 with the Besser o' the Barn Band, being the principal euphonium player.
