LONDON WHEAT MARKET
LONDON, Dec. 24. The wheat cargoes market was steadier to-day owing to the overnight recovery in North and South America. Futures: London, January 46s 6d a quarter, May 44s 84d; Liverpool, December 9s lOd per cental, March 8s 10 7-Bd, May 8s 93d, July 8s 7 3-Bd. The spot trade is poor, Australian, ex ship, 47s a quarter. Flour is firm. Australian, ex store, 33s 6d to 34s a sack. WHY’ PRICES RISE. CHICAGO, Dec. 25. A newspaper commentator attributed one of the causes of the sharp advance in the price of wheat to the wet weather in Australia and the tendency to reduce estimates of the year’s crop. Closing deals here show top net gains of 31 to 5 3-8 cents a bushel. CHICAGO PRICES. CHICAGO, Dec. 24. Chicago wheat futures; December, 139 3-8 cents a bushel; May, 134 7-8 cents, July 119 3-8 cents.
