COAL TO IRELAND
ORDERS FOR A YEAR. I British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, Dec. 24. In an official statement, the Irish Free State Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. S. F. Lemass, indicates that from January next until January 31, 1938, the Free State will take 3,133,000 tons of British coal. There is a nominal quota of 1000 tons for foreign coal. The statement adds that this arrangement was made pending the completion of discussions regarding continuance of the existing arrangement between the Free State and Britain, whereby the former takes British coal and Britain takes an increased number of Irish cattle but continues to charge a special Customs duty on them.
